On December 10, Weichai marine high-speed natural gas engine was ignited successfully at Weichai Westport New Energy Company, marking the design and development work of the project successfully approaching the end and soon entering an important stage of performance optimization and application supporting development.
This technology has been highly praised by the industry. The director of Wuhan Specification Institute of China Classification Society said the high level of this technology would help promote the upgrading of domestic marine gas engine technology. Deputy Dean of Energy and Power Engineering College at Shandong University said that the use of HPDI technology allowed the engine power and efficiency to be the same with the diesel engine. This is a "first time" in the field of domestic marine engines, and would lead the energy saving technologies, particularly in the upgrading of marine engines, in the country.
