At the Weichai Power Heavy Commercial Vehicle New Technology Launch Conference on January 7, 2014, Super Brake assisting braking safety technology, S-POWER intelligent control technology, and other commercial vehicle technologies were launched. The WP13 engine launched then was a high-power engine with high reliability, low fuel consumption, safety and environment friendliness, specially designed by Weichai for highway freight trucks and special vehicles. WP13 engine was developed based on the mature 12L engine with subtle changes and solid designs, which could help the heavy trucks to achieve high speed, punctuality, cost saving and cleanness. The MTBF of WP13 engine exceeded 250,000 km mileage, and the B10 life was more than 1.2 million km. Its power range covered 480HP-550HP, and the maximum torque was 2500N • m, reaching the top level among the engine with same displacement around the world and meeting the power demand of all future heavy trucks. The speed under maximum torque was extended to 1000 r/min, bring the gradibility to a new level.
The launch of WP13 engine also allowed Shacman X3000 heavy truck to enter the new era of high speed and high power, leading the trend of China's heavy truck industry and redefining the standards of power, fuel economy, safety, intelligence, and reliability for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
